Rebecca started her career in Circus Arts when she was 17 at Southern Edge Arts in Albany. She then moved to the Gold Coast to train, perform and coach with numerous circus companies including Trix Circus, Aerial Angels, Vulcana Women’s Circus and Flipside Circus.
Rebecca was a principal performer and aerial circus trainer for Perth-based dance company Skadada from 2003 to 2008 and was then appointed Co-Director of breakaway company Syrc Youth Circus. In February 2012, Rebecca wrote and co-directed Syrc’s first full production ‘Le Petit Cabaret’ that presented a season to sold-out audiences at Fringe World Perth.
In September 2012, Rebecca established Kinetica Circus Arts with the aim of providing professional and emerging circus artists in Perth a place to train, devise new work and perform. Rebecca has performed her signature acts of contortion straps, double lyra, duo trapeze and double silks both nationally and internationally. Rebecca also works as a Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates instructor specialising in the treatment of performing artists.
Sarah trained as an Artistic Gymnast at WAIS for 10 years finishing at International Elite level. When injury put an end to her gymnastics career she transferred her knowledge to coaching young gymnasts at recreational, state and national levels before starting circus training with Skadada in 2004. She was also a principal performer and circus coach for Skadada until 2008 when she was appointed Co-Director of breakaway company Syrc.
With long term training partner Rebecca, Sarah established Kinetica Circus Arts in 2012 and her goals are to continue to develop elite circus performers in Perth along with bringing the joy and craziness of circus to as many people as possible, in whatever capacity they choose to train.
Sarah’s signature acts are lyra, contortion and hand balancing, and duo aerials, and she specialises in coaching aerials, handstands and flexibility training.
